The Giving Movement aims to spread conscious consumerism as the new norm, and it’s all one
step at a time. The current fashion industry, specifically fast fashion, is one of the biggest
contributors to pollution and climate change: millions of tonnes of textile and material waste end
up in landfills every day, while less than 1% of clothing is recycled.
Conscious consumerism is the key that allows every shopper to make a difference and reduce
the industry’s carbon footprint. It’s about being aware of the chain impact of each of our
shopping habits and clothing. Whether it’s investing in sustainable clothing, extending clothing’s
life cycle through donation or buying vintage, or ensuring fair trade and socially ethical impacts
— these are the small steps that will help us shift to Earth-positive shopping behaviour.
